It’s that often anticipated (and then quickly dreaded) moment of choosing the Save-the-Date announcements for the wedding you’ve always dreamed of. Pinterest is flooded with ideas that leave you feeling overwhelmed. I’ll take you through the journey that brought me to my own Save-the-Date magnets (pictured). Hopefully you can avoid some headache, and most importantly – have some fun!
After lots of research (1000’s of hours on Pinterest), I was ultimately impressed by the magnets offered from Minted.com. There are far too many cheapy looking magnet suppliers out there, and thankfully Minted just isn’t one of them. The magnets shipped to my house within a week after approving my proof. {This is not a sponsored post}.
Here’s a pic as soon as they arrived:
This is your chance to get guests excited about the big day! My husband and I received many sweet calls and texts after sending them in the mail. I’ve attached a few below 🙂
Our guests seemed just as excited as we were! It feels like sending a little gift in the mail from the bride & groom. I love that guests were able to slap this puppy on the fridge and call it a day. How can you forget a date that is smack-dab on the front of your fridge. I swear you will get more RSVPs using a magnetic date reminder!
I love them! The surface of the magnets are not as smooth as I had anticipated, but they are still high quality. The magnets have the perfect thickness and will not require extra postage when mailing (*silent cheer*). The picture will come out slightly pixilated on the magnet, but only if you look closely. Certainly not a deal-breaker. Overall, a great choice.
The specific magnet template I chose can be found here: Magnet – White Script. The font size & style cannot be changed, however you are free to move the text up/down/left/right. The script comes in white, charcoal, or sun (goldish/beige). Here’s the pricing (as of Feb. 2017):
- 25 magnets @ $ 2.84 = $ 71.00
- 55 magnets @ $ 2.75 = $ 151.00
- 75 magnets @ $ 2.60 ea = $ 195.00
- 100 magnets @ $ 2.45 ea = $ 245.00
- 155 magnets @ $ 2.30 ea = $ 357.00
*Side note on envelopes: the magnets come with complementary plain white envelopes and Minted.com will not let you choose a different color or style (even for extra $$). I found this frustrating since I needed thicker paper so my ombré watercolor wouldn’t warp the envelope. These envelopes are standard.
Here’s the final product: The blue & green vintage stamps (pictured) were purchased on etsy.com from Verde Studio. Be sure to buy stamps that are unused because Etsy also sells used collectible stamps.
The watercolor was DIY using this paint: Paper Source. I suggest buying thicker envelope paper than the free version that come default with the magnets. I struggled to keep the paper from warping after painting. I had to dry the envelopes between pages of heavy books, but even that didn’t always work.
The white pen used for the date tag and ombre addresses is a ‘Uniball Signo broad’ pen found from Paper Source for $3.95 (White Gel Pen). I suggest buying two of these. I would buy a lifetime supply myself because I’ve tried dozens of white pens and there is absolutely no competition. One pen lasted me about 40 envelopes.
The baker’s twine was a DIY add-on using supplies found at a Michael’s craft store (Twine).
I hope you enjoyed the post. Best of luck Brides!
