This breakfast treat is sure to put a smile on your face. I made this one for my fiancé and he loved it! I threw whatever yummy stuff I could find in the pantry / fridge for a quick breakfast. This is a healthy spin on what feels like a sinful treat. See below for my own step-by-step recipe:
Ingredients:
♡ rolled oats
♡ Greek yogurt
♡ flaxseed meal
♡ 1/2 banana
♡ 1/2 cup blueberries
♡ dash cinnamon
Directions:
1st: Organic rolled oats from Country Choice® found in a local supermarket or on amazon – Country Choice Oats. Any type of rolled oats will do, but I recommend buying a non-GMO organic version. Slightly more expensive is Bob’s Red Mill®. Oats must be boiled or microwaved before placed as a layer in the mason jar. Let the oats cool down before spooning into the mason jar, or the glass will fog.
2nd: Chobani® plain non-fat Greek (only 4g of sugar) yogurt found in any supermarket or on amazon – Chobani Yogurt. Greek yogurt is an excellent source of protein, calcium, vitamin D, and potassium. Also, Greek yogurt is a great alternative for those who are lactose-intolerant.
3rd: Ground flaxseed (meal) from Bob’s Red Mill®. It can be found in any supermarket or on amazon – Bob’s Flaxseed. It is fairly inexpensive when you consider how long a package can last. One tablespoon daily will do the trick. It is important to buy ground or “meal” flaxseed as whole flaxseed is larger and tough to chew.
4th: Bananas…. yum!
5th: More ground flaxseed
6th: Organic blueberries
Then… start back with ground flaxseed and repeat backwards (flaxseed, yogurt, oats). Top with a dash of cinnamon and enjoy!
